French investigators studying dermatologist's murder
French investigators have arrived in the United States, looking to study evidence in the case of a dual citizen accused of killing a Chicago dermatologist in 2006. An arrest warrant was issued in Chicago for Hans Peterson Dr. David Cornbleet's death. But Peterson turned himself in to French authorities. A French judge has ruled Peterson won't be extradited. The French investigators are to decide if Peterson will be prosecuted for murder in the French judicial system. Cook County state's attorney's office spokesman John Gorman says prosecutors hope the French officials change their position on extradition. Cornbleet's son, Jon, of Naperville, has alleged Peterson killed the physician after being prescribed an acne medicine that he believed made him impotent.

The earnings release for Sunoco Logistics Partners LP provides a more detailed discussion of its quarterly performance but in general the solid earnings were largely due to strong demand for pipelines and terminaling and strong operations from the partnerships assets including those acquired in recent years and increased earnings from its least crude acquisition business.
For the full year 2007, logistics earned $45 million up $9 million from 2006 and the highest level since the formation Sunoco Logistics Partners in 2002.
Coke, which lost $2 million in the fourth quarter was impacted by $14 million unfavorable partial phase-out of alternative fuel tax credits due to higher crude oil prices. As a reminder, through the end of 2007, our Coke business benefited from certain section 29 non-conventional fuel tax credits, which were subject to phase-out on a ratable basis, when the annual crude oil price on the WTI basis averaged over approximately $62 a barrel, with full phase-out at an estimated annual average of about $76 barrels WTI.

Having no garage is a small price to pay for a sunny historic house just off Route 2, with views of Spy Pond, and walking distance to Arlington Center. A driveway can handle two cars, and the side mudroom entry makes it easy to dump outside gear. The front entrance makes a statement up a slight hill from the main road (keeping the inside quiet). It is painted pale pink with a bold portico; this, combined with concrete steps and mature plantings, beckons toward an inside that is mostly true to its era, but also includes updates. It's a bit abrupt to enter into the living room, but the wonderful older features distract from that concern - coffered ceilings, stained-glass windows, dentil molding, and narrow hardwood floors. The elephant's new home is a 2,700-acre sanctuary in Tennessee that for all we know may be Fred Thompson's campaign headquarters. To most Republicans these days, the place must sound like heaven. It has a Kaus-like fence to keep out unwanted immigrants. The only people allowed to visit are big donors. According to a Humane Society official, "The Elephant Sanctuary represents the future of enlightened captive elephant management"—a concept very much on the minds of every Republican presidential candidate. The Republican field could learn a great deal from the Tennessee program, especially its "non-invasive research on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder." If only the sanctuary had done some nontraumatic research on post-invasion stress disorder. The sanctuary even has its own YouTube—the Elecam.

Three months of falling prices have persuaded many that they must take a slice off their asking price if they really want to sell their home. In its last bulletin on the housing market, published on December 17, the property website Rightmove announced that asking prices had fallen by an average of 3.2 per cent over the month. Of this, it said, 1.1 per cent was attributable to a rush of one- and two-bedroom properties coming on to the market before the requirement to commission a Home Information Pack was extended to all property. .

A source who was with her shared these comments from the troubled star during the 3-1/2 hour broadcast: • Though Spears expressed admiration for Tina Turner's energy-packed duet with Beyonce, she did get snarky about the younger megastar's moves on stage. "She sure knows how to toss her hair," said Britney. "Too bad she can't dance as good as Tina who's old enough to be her grandmother!"
