A job would open if Wilson does not recover from elbow surgery, or if the club trades Inge or Thames. Raburn has a minor league option remaining, so he could be sent to Triple-A Toledo without clearing waivers. .

MacBook Air, from Apple: In the history of Apple announcements, this was one of the least surprising: Pretty much everyone in the room at Steve Jobs's Expo keynote was expecting a thin notebook. But they probably weren't expecting this: The MacBook Air is almost frighteningly skinny. And yet it really is a full-fledged Mac, with a 1.6GHz or 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and reasonable quantities of RAM, hard drive, keyboard, and screen. Sure, you have to give up an optical drive, Ethernet, FireWire, stereo speakers, and a few other amenities. But tell that to the hundreds of Mac users who crowded the Apple booth at Expo, balancing their MacBook Air daintily on their fingertips, and beaming widely. This is known as cryptorchidism (hidden gonads) and is thought to be caused by insufficient testosterone production during foetal life. This in turn fails to stimulate secretion of enough calcitonin gene-related peptide needed to trigger testicular descent. For some reason, the incidence of cryptorchidism has increased by 60 per cent over the last 30 years. This may be related to foetal exposure to weak environmental oestrogens. In many cases, an undescended testicle descends on its own within a few months of birth, so that by the age of 1 year, only 2 per cent of baby boys are affected. After this time, an undescended testis is unlikely to correct itself spontaneously and surgical intervention is needed. An undescended testis which is left in the abdomen does not develop normally.
