| Peace Symbol Says Style, Not Hope
The fact is that we live in a world no closer to nuclear disarmament than it was in 1958. Even here in supposedly peaceful Canada, we are in profound denial about the fact that we are a nation at war. Durable as they may be, I guess symbols can only achieve so much. Why you should upgrade to Windows Update Server (WSUS) 3.0
It is important that you keep your systems up-to-date with updates and security patches. If your system is not kept up-to-date, it may not run as reliable as it should and it would not be as resistant against viruses and other forms of DoS attacks. You could manually login into each computer within your organization and go to the http://update.microsoft.com website to download and install the updates. Unfortunately, if you have 100s of computers, this approach is impractical because of the labor and because 100s of computers downloading patches also use valuable bandwidth. In addition, you often want a way to control what updates get applied since updates may cause problems with certain applications. Another option is to configure each computer for automatic updates.
Hi-Tech Beauty-Buster Fixers
Whether your problem is thinning hair or acne, there are a few hot, new products on that claim to take away everything from wrinkles to too much hair. The products use some of the same technologies that a dermatologist may have used on you -- lasers, LED lights, and infrared light -- and you can use them all in your own home. But do they work? "These products provide at-home versions of procedures typically performed in a doctor's office: light treatments, laser hair removal, or chemical peels," says Linda Wells, editor in chief of Allure magazine. "In terms of at-home treatments, this is just the beginning." Wells and some Allure staffers visited The Early Show Wednesday and reported on the effectiveness of products the staffers tried for several weeks.
Macworld 2008 Prediction: Apple's MacBook Plus Tablet Laptop
It's January, which means time has come for the electronics industry to release all its secrets for the year ahead. That means plenty of announcements at the Consumer Electronics Show beginning Saturday in Las Vegas, and then at Apple's Macworld the week after that. (We'll be live at both with video and analysis, so bookmark here and here now.) Last year, Apple upstaged pretty much every other company in the gadget world with the unveiling of the iPhone, and this year, the rumor mill is hot and heavy with speculation about a tablet for the Mac line. As I do every year at this time, I recently called up the folks at Apple and asked them what to expect from Steve Jobs when he takes the stage for his keynote on Jan. 15. And as they do every year, the folks at Apple told me nothing. So if they won't tell me what they're working on, I'll tell them what I want for the new year.
